Individual Editor

Once you have added an individual you can add additional information, or edit existing information about that individual.

To open the Individual Editor do one of the following:

 

Gender:  This field is only changeable if the individual is unmarried.  Once linked to a spouse, the gender can not be changed.  Unlink the individual from all spouses, and then change the gender.

FamilySearch Person Identifier:  Number assigned by FamilySearch.

Use the FamilySearch button to search for a matching individual.  You must have a sign-in name and Password to access FamilySearch.  The FamilySearch button may overwrite anything you type in this field.  See Using FamilySearch for more information on using FamilySearch.

Name:  Multiple names associated with this individual.

MagiKey Family Tree allows multiple names to be assigned to each individual displayed in order of preference by Source Quality.  

Step 1. Click on the empty space at the end of the list of names. 
Step 2.  Start typing or double-click the empty space. The Name form will open to allow you to add the new name.  
TIP:  You will see up and down arrows to scroll through names if more than one name is present, which will allow you to access the empty name space at the end of the list. 

Title:  You can add multiple titles for each individual.

MagiKey Family Tree allows multiple titles for each individual displayed in order of preference by source Quality. 
TIP:  Titles are displayed before a name such as Dr., Mr., Mrs., Lord, Sir, etc.  

Events:  This is where you add, edit, delete and view events.

Each line in this section consists of an Event, Date, Place, Source Quality, as well as the following info:

 There is additional information (not a Source or Note) which can be viewed by clicking Edit...
S  A source has been added for this event.  View the source by clicking Edit...
N   One or more notes has been added for this event.  View the notes by clicking Edit...

Add: This button which will open an Event form which will allow you to add a new event.

Edit: Select an event from the list and click the edit button to change the event.

You can edit the date, place, source, and other information associated with this event.  

Delete: Delete the selected event.

In addition to selecting an item and clicking the Delete button, you could select the row and type <Delete>.

Attributes: This is where you add, edit, delete, and view miscellaneous facts about an individual.  If you have a Tag or have set a person as a Favorite, this information will show up in the Attribute section.  This information is not editable but can be deleted. 


Add:
This button which will open an Event form which will allow you to add a new  Miscellaneous Information.

Edit: Select an item from the list and click the edit button to change the information.

You can edit the date, place, source, and other information associated with this Miscellaneous Information.   The Event form will open to allow you to view and edit  all the information associated with this Miscellaneous Information. 

Delete: Delete the selected Miscellaneous information.

In addition to selecting an item and clicking the Delete button, you could select the row and type <Delete>.

LDS Ordinances: This is an area used to track  Individual Ordinances.

LDS Ordinances lists the Individual Ordinances which have been performed by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Each line in this section consists of an Event, Date, Place, Source Quality, as well as the following info:

 There is additional information (not a Source or Note) which can be viewed by clicking Edit...
S  A source has been added for this event.  View the source by clicking Edit...
N  One or more notes has been added for this event.  View the notes by clicking Edit...

Add: Manually add or Search for Individual Ordinance information.

If you have selected the option to use New FamilySearch, you can try to match this individual with ordinance information maintained by FamilySearch.   Otherwise, it opens an LDS Events form where you can manually add Individual Ordinance events.  See Adding Temple Ordinances.

Edit: Opens an LDS Events form where you can add or edit LDS events manually.

Delete: Delete the selected LDS Ordinance event.

In addition to selecting an item and clicking the Delete button, you could select the row and type <Delete>.

Sources: There is where you can re-order, add, delete or edit sources for this individual.

Source information can be associated directly with each Event, Miscellaneous information, LDS Ordinance, or Note  in addition to the sources listed here.

Up: Move the selected source toward the top of the list.

The Up button is disabled if you have the first item in the list selected, or if there are no sources.

Down: Move the selected source toward the bottom of the list.

The Down button is disabled if you have the last item in the list selected, or if there are no sources.

Add: Opens a Source screen where you can select an existing source to add for this individual or add a new source  and use it for this individual.

Delete: Delete this source information from this Individual

This does not delete this source information from other individuals who also use this source.

Edit: Opens a Source screen where you can change the selected Source, Page, Source Quality for this individual. 

Notes: There is where you can re-order, add, delete or edit notes for this individual.

Any note you have created for this individual is completely shown, followed by additional notes.  A scroll bar appears if there is any note information that scrolls past the bottom of the viewable area, such as additional notes.

Notes can be associated directly with each Event, Miscellaneous information, LDS Ordinance, or Source  in addition to the notes listed here.

Submitters: People who have contributed the GEDCOM information for this individual.

You cannot change the submitter information on this screen. 

Last Modified: Date the information for this individual was last changed.

Add Images...: Find pictures of this individual that you want to be included on the Ancestry or Descendancy web page reports.
