What is the Repository Index?
It is a searchable list of the locations, at which the actual records
are stored. These records, known as sources, provide evidence for events,
facts, or notes in your database. A repository may be: a library, Court
House, house, Ancestry.com, etc. This index enables an inverse search
capability, or in other words, to search backwards from a known REPOSITORY
back to the SOURCE record.
Once you have selected a Repository record from the list, the
following options are available:

Why is the Repository Index helpful?
- You can avoid repeating your efforts when returning to a
library or courthouse by knowing which records you have previously used at
that location.
- Reviewing the records that you have previously searched at a specific
repository, may provide insight, when returning to the same repository to
research other ancestors.

source. This will automatically link the repository to the source.
